Worship is at the heart of who we are at Community United Methodist Church Elm Grove. We offer three distinctly different worship experiences.
We describe our 8:30 a.m. service as "traditional;" much like worship out of the 1950's. We use traditional liturgy, traditional hymns and a mix of choral and bell music to enhance our celebration.
We call the 9:45 a.m. service "The Journey" and we use the term "casual" to describe this gathering. In "The Journey" we focus on building relationships and learning to pray with each other. Instead of a preached sermon, the learning time is presented in a question and answer format that allows all those who come the opportunity to ask questions and explore what God is trying to teach us.
The 11:00 a.m. service is a blending of styles and traditions. We will often sing traditional hymns but from time to time we will have our "Praise Team" lead us in a more upbeat worship experience. This service will vary slightly from week to week but it will always be a celebration of our faith in Jesus Christ.
Community Church puts great emphasis on continuing Christian study with Sunday School classes for all ages, and midweek Bible Study programs. There are numerous opportunities to join smaller groups, which are constantly evolving and open to new members.
The congregation is committed to outreach into the community, both on an individual basis and in groups of volunteers. Using our gifts of time and talents is encouraged in many ways. We are a founding member of the "The Gathering" which feeds the hungry at four meal sites in Milwaukee. We work with our sister agencies United Methodist Children’s Services, Cooperating Congregations of Waukesha County and many other agencies in our community and around the world. Community United Methodist Church's multi-generational congregation welcomes people from Elm Grove, Brookfield and surrounding areas.
